Body Language Signs

Well my friend Jon got me interested in the art of reading body language. He's been looking for this book in the library that seems to be lost or stolen by the person who checked it out. But I went online and looked it up and found a site with some very interesting facts. It's called http://1to101.com/Body_Language and if you really don't want to just go on there this is what it says:

Body Language Signs

You can tell how someone is feeling by their body language signs. It’s useful to be able to read people’s body language because what people say and what they feel are often not the same. Studies have shown that of the information that we receive from other people: 10% is from what they actually say; 40% is from the tone and speed of their voice; 50% is from their body language.
Head (Body Language Signs)
  • A tilted head symbolises interest in someone or something.
  • A lowered head is a negative signal that communicates acceptance of defeat.
  • Running fingers through hair can mean that someone is frustrated or that they're preening themselves because they feel attractive.
  • Fondling or patting down hair demonstrates insecurity and a lack of self-confidence.
  • The occasional nod from a listener to a speaker is a positive message; it’s an indication that they are listening and are interested.
  • Too much nodding implies that a listener has lost interest, is not really listening and is simply nodding to be polite.
  • Touching or tugging an ear indicates indecision; though it’s also sometimes done when a person is being untruthful.
  • Someone may touch or slightly rub their nose if they are doubtful about what is being said or if they are rejecting an idea.
  • People often pinch the bridge of their nose and close their eyes when making a negative evaluation.
  • People place their hand on their cheek when they’re thinking or evaluating.
  • A genuine smile engages the whole face (including the eyes) and is usually larger on the right side.
  • A false smile will often only engage the lips, and will be fairly symmetrical or larger on the left side.
  • A person stroking their chin is evaluating or making a decision.
  • Projecting the chin towards another person demonstrates defiance or aggression.
  • Clearing the throat or swallowing air is a sign of anxiety.
Eyes (Body Language Signs)
  • Failing to look someone in the eyes displays a lack of confidence.
  • Lowering the eyes is a sign of submission, fear or guilt.
  • Staring is interpreted as aggression and implies a person feels dominant and powerful.
  • Looking directly into another person’s eyes without staring signifies self-assurance.
  • Sizing up a person by looking at them from head to toe is associated with assessing them as either as a potential threat or as a sexual partner.
  • Continual glancing at something or someone suggests a desire for that thing or person.
  • Blink rate increases when someone is nervous or assessing something.
  • Looking upwards and to the right indicates that someone is recalling a memory.
  • Looking upwards and to the left implies that a person is using the imaginative / creative part of their brain.
  • When a person looks directly upwards they are thinking.
  • A widening or brightening of a person’s eyes shows an increased interest in a situation / conversation.
  • People who feel insulted, caught-out or threatened, will likely break eye contact.
  • A quick glance sideways during a conversation can be used to show irritation at the last comment made.
  • Eyes moving from side to side whilst talking suggest that what is being said is not meant to be heard by other people.
  • A person who consistently looks around them is bored with a situation / conversation.
Upper Body (Body Language Signs)
  • Pushing the chest forward draws attention to it; for women this is seen as a provocative romantic display whereas for men it’s a show of strength and power.
  • A person may push their shoulders back to demonstrate their power and signify that they don’t fear attack.
  • A pulled back chest with forward curled shoulders is a defensive position taken by people who want others to know that they are no threat to them.
  • A person with folded / crossed arms is placing a barrier between themselves and their surroundings; indicating that they’re not happy with what is being said or done.
  • Open arms, particularly when combined with showing palms, mean that someone is approachable and willing to communicate with others.
  • Upward facing palms signify that a person’s defences are down and that they’re speaking sincerely with an open heart.
  • Outward, upward hand movements express an open and positive message.
  • Open palms occasionally touching the chest imply honesty.
  • Using hands with downward facing palms symbolises a calming action.
  • A palm facing outwards towards someone signals to that person to stop what they are doing or not come any closer.
  • Positioning hands behind the back shows that someone is relaxed and comfortable; though it can also be used on purpose to convey a message of power and confidence.
  • Finger pointing is interpreted as either a sign of assertiveness or a sign of aggression.
  • Tapping or drumming fingers communicates impatience or frustration.
  • Biting fingernails represents insecurity and nervousness.
  • Fiddling with items (e.g. keys or a pen) can be a sign of nerves or anxiety; alternatively it may be done as a result of boredom or impatience.
  • Interlinked fingers, finger tips touching or index fingers pressed together, are positive gestures that show a person is thinking, evaluating or deciding.
  • Sides of the palms close together with extended fingers (forming the shape of a plate) is an action often used when offering thoughts or ideas to people.
  • Fingers held together and curled upwards (forming the shape of a cup) is a gesture used when someone is pleading for something.
  • Touching the front of the neck symbolises concern about what another person is saying.
Lower Body (Body Language Signs)
  • Walking briskly with an upright posture shows confidence.
  • A normal, relaxed standing pose is with the feet positioned at shoulder width.
  • The wider a person’s feet are positioned from each other, the more dominant and powerful they feel.
  • Standing with hands on hips expresses either readiness or aggression.
  • Leaning back with the hips pushed forward is a provocative and suggestive gesture; it can also signify that a person feels powerful.
  • In a relaxed sitting pose, the thighs are typically slightly open, with legs running in parallel from the hips.
  • Sitting with legs open / apart means that a person is comfortable and is feeling secure in their surroundings.
  • Sitting legs may point (with knees or feet) at the most interesting person in a room or in a person’s desired direction of travel (i.e. towards a door).
  • Crossed legs can be either a negative, defensive position or a relaxed, comfortable one; it depends on how tense a persons leg muscles are.
  • Legs crossed towards someone suggest a greater level of interest in them than legs crossed away from them.
  • A slightly kicking / bouncing foot when sitting with crossed legs suggests boredom or impatience.
  • Crossing ankles is a sign of being fairly relaxed, especially when the legs are stretched forward and the person is leaning back.
  • The ‘figure-of-four cross’ occurs when one ankle is placed on top of the other legs' knee, with the top leg's knee pointing sideways; this signals confidence and power.

Who Am I?

I want to get one thing clear with all of you, I am not a person who likes to reveal my true identity on the internet. The people who know me know it's me through my blog, but people who don't tend to STAY that way because I'm self conscious about identity theft. I have two different email addresses, one real for things like friends, family, and college, and one fake for spams and identity thefts. This blogger account I have has been created by my fake one. I have never told you in any of my blog my full name or Skeen's full name. I haven't revealed where we live, and I'm not going to EVER reveal anything about us that could be moderately useful. I do this for identity thefts and for the simple fact that magic lies in mystery. So if you want someone to picture when you're reading this blog, picture a 16 year old, tan, muscular hottie. He lives in Nashville, Tennessee, and aspires to be a famous singer. His name is still going to be a mystery to you, and half the things I told you was false, but you can deal with it. That's my side of the story.

How is She Already Impacting My Life?

Ok, so I'm not a real believer in all that young love stuff. I believe that falling in true love takes time. So don't for one minute for one moment that I'm suggesting that I am falling in love. But I'm dating this girl. It's actually been a week. Yesterday we've been going through some misunderstandings and horrible failures to communicate. Well long story short we ended up breaking up. Then in my next class, I was straight up MISERABLE! It was so bad even SKEEN asked me if I was okay, and it takes alot for him to ask that. Now, you should know that I never gave girls a run when they break up with me, I just let them break up with me and we never speak about it again. But SHE'S different. I absolutely HAD to do everything I could think of to get her back. So after class I shot out of the room and flagged her down to ask if we could talk about this and work things out. To my surprise, she felt the same exact way. Later on we talked it out and got back together, and I couldn't be happier. Turns out it was just all of those previous "Matchmakers" I posted about earlier that screwed us up in the first place. They've been running our relationship. But not any longer. I'll make sure of that. This is the first girl that has impacted me this way and I'm not going to let them screw this up for me, believe it. Well, that's my side of the story!

What's a TRUE Friend Have?

See, one day(I forget exactly when), Skeen and I were arguing about something. Then we started having a decent conversation about something alot of people think about in their lifetime: what makes a TRUE friend? We have so many "friends" that will back off when times are tough or just aren't reliable, but what about those very FEW friends that can actually be classified as friends? One thing me and Skeen have that makes a real friendship is honesty. Both of us are not afraid to tell each other when we disagree with each other or if we think something is a bad idea. Another thing we have is trust. If my life was on the line, I know I can trust Skeen to think of something to help me. And I know Skeen can trust that I'll do what I say I will and that if he asks for something I'll help any way I can. We also have a certain bond that though sometimes we can't stand each other will ALWAYS be there. Heck, I encouraged Skeen to make his blog when he started and Skeen kept telling me I should do one. Now we are each other's followers. And we argue ALOT... But we wouldn't be friends if we did. We give each other advice all the time(he encouraged me to ask out my girlfriend), and, though he's always putting me down, I believe he will succeed in whatever he decides to do with his life, and I know he believes I'll succeed in whatever I choose to do. Well, that's my side of the story!

JAGardner: Mountain Climber

See, ever since like 8 months ago I've been wanting to climb a mountain. Why? Well, have you ever heard that Rascal Flatts song Mayberry? And a few other songs I can't remember right now. Anyways that song talks about being above the noise and city streets ans how his worries disappear. Well, I want to climb a mountain for that very reason. To see exactly how peaceful it is in absolute silence. I told Skeen that we need to do it. He dampened my spirits a little when he reminded me we would need to take oxygen training to learn to adapt to the lower oxygen levels, but I told him I still wanna do it anyways. He's in... but if he ruins the silence by breathing too hard I'll fix that problem right away... That's a joke by the way, I'm not a lunatic. Anyways wish us luck in about ten years! That's my side of the story!

The History of Boredom

One day, in a world far more barbaric and far less technologically advanced, there was a young teen who one day refused to stand for what his whole life was: work. He did not know what this feeling was that he had, but he refused to keep it. He named this feeling boredom. So therefore he went to his parents and said "Hey, yo, I'm bored. I'm gonna go out here and do something FUN for a change." So he went out, invented the first skateboard, and had fun. However, this man with the sickly cancer of boredom passed this contagious disease to all his friends and family. It was genetic so it passed onto his kids. And now everyone in the world has this disease called Boredom. There is no known cure, but you can make the symptoms less severe by going out and doing something fun. Unless you are in stupid school, taking some stupid online usatestprep test, and have internet so blocked we can't even go on our own school website because it's categorized as "educational"... And that's my side of the story.

What's it Take?

Being called nerd by many people who have met me, I come to think of it as a compliment. But lately I've been wondering, what does it really take to be a "Nerd"? Looking back into the days of when I watched shows like Saved by the Bell, the writers made it pretty clear what a nerd was back in their day(big goofy glasses, shirts buttoned all the way up, tracker keepers, pants high up on your waist, snorting laugh, high IQ, low bodily muscle, trading cards and weird interests, no dates, loads of pencils in their shirt pocket, etc.). But nowadays none of that stuff has been described for a nerd. Yes, I'm pretty smart, and yes, I do have a few interests that are questionable by "the cool people", but also many girls like me, I'm dating one, I have an interest in sports, I'm an ex-wrestler, I wear jeans and an old cowboy hat, and I have many sorts of different friends. So, what exactly labels me a nerd? What do you guys think? Don't be afraid to leave a comment. That's my side of the story.

Matchmakers

I got one thing to say to all of you matchmakers in this world: DARN YOU! I'm tired of going into a classroom, hang out with a girl, get pulled over by you darned cupids, and trying to hook me up with that girl. Leave me the hell alone, I don't like you! Do I really have to have a romantic relationship with every girl I come in contact with? I'M NOT TIGER WOODS! Even if I DO have feelings for a girl, IF I WANTED YOUR HELP OR INPUT, I WOULD ASK! Have you even noticed that these so-called "matchmakers" don't even have long-lasting commentments? Or even a DATE?! Don't try to help me until you can learn to help yourself you nosey little pigs! I know I seem to be going into overdrive with my rude comments but seriously WTF why do you have to interrupt MY life? And these little matchmakers either make things worse or hook you up with someone NOT compatible with you! Also, they are just straight up ANNOYING! Kinda like Navi on LoZ OoT. That's my side of the story.

Valentine's Day

No, in case you stumbled upon here by accident trying to download the movie or get ratings on it, you looked at the wrong place. Anyways, today is Valentine's Day and I don't know whether I should be excited or not. On the one hand, Valentine's Day is a Wal-mart Holiday intended to make loads of money by buying expensive flowers and chocolates which is really REALLY cheesy. Especially when the winning phrase is "Will you be my valentine?" I'm sorry, but you will NEVER hear me ask that it's just so dumb. I'd probably just say something along the lines of "Hey, you, woman. Yeah, you're my valentine. Now take this bag of candy and ENJOY IT." On the other hand, it is a great way to finally show a girl you care about her or like her by choosing her or doing something for HER. It's the thought that counts, after all. So basically giving a girl candy may say "here, I like you" to YOU, but to HER you are saying, "I chose you over all the girls in this world because you are the most special of them all. I love and cherish you on this day of romance." And that's where November babies come from. My SISTER happens to be a November baby hehe. Anyways, that's my side of the story. See you later!

Hyperlinking

Hey guys I learned about the most awesome thing in the world in SCHOOL! I finally learned how to hyperlink stuff! It's all because of Emily Dickinson and some poem about a bucket... oh yeah, thats right, BUCKET! B-U-C-K-E-T, bucket! Haha, funny how life works, huh? Well I'm now bored with looking up hyperlinks, so see you later! JAGardner out!

New Rules

Yesterday I posted a blog named "Opinions: Right or Wrong?". I really failed to put excruciating detail on Skeen's "side of the story" and I, being a person who stands for fairness, would like to apologize to him. And by doing so, I would like Skeen to comment on this post with HIS standpoint on our argument over opinions. And in the future, I will only put my side of the argument on my posts, and I invite Skeen to comment HIS side on that post so he and I have both stated our arguments and no one puts words in each other's mouths and no one seems the bad guy. Therefore we will also be the ones that are arguing our cases so we will say what WE mean. Me and Skeen are real good friends, viewers, and I don't want you to think we are or were ever in a feud. We just point out the worst in each other, which is a sign of honesty, and we would still help each other in any way we can, which is a sign of loyalty. Those are the two biggest ingredients in a friendship. If we didn't argue all the time like I said in my first post, we wouldn't be as good friends. So anyways, this is my sincere apology and I hope you'll consider dropping "Your Side of the Story" on "My Side of the Story".

What Happens AFTER "The End"?

I was reading Skeen's blog today named "Nerd Princess" and decided to drop something on the comment I left him. Picture this, you always read these epic books or watch these great movies, but they always end on the exact same spot- the spot I like to call the "Happily-Ever-After" phase. But as we all know, life has its ups and downs and repeats the cycle. And in life, there really is no "The End" until we are dead. So what I want to know is what REALLY happens after the Happily-Ever-After phase? DOes the lovely couple stay together until death? Does the sidekick stay friends with the hero? Does the hero end up breaking the law or die of cancer or AIDS? KEEP US INFORMED! That's why I believe God made sequels. But these sequels need to keep on coming until the person is dead. Of course, people may not have enough of an attention span to keep all that up, but I'm tired of being left in the dark in my favorite Gone series. What do YOU think? Please comment your thoughts and ideas.

Opinions: Right or Wrong?

Me and Skeen have always had our little wars over these long years, but one argument we have keeps on coming back into our lives that we argue about the MOST! Please feel free to comment on your viewpoint because I'm interested on your thoughts. I believe that OPINIONS are exactly what they are. They are not right or wrong, one is not more valid than the other, they are simply what a person thinks of feels. Something that can be proven right or wrong is simply a FACT. If you look opinion up in dictionary.com, you will find this:

o·pin·ion

[uh-pin-yuhn] Show IPA
–noun
1.
a belief or judgment that rests on grounds insufficient to produce complete certainty.
2.
a personal view, attitude, or appraisal.
3.
the formal expression of a professional judgment: to ask for a second Medical opinion.
4.
Law . the formal statement by a judge or court of the reasoning and the principles of law used in reaching a decision of a case.
5.
a judgment or estimate of a person or thing with respect to character, merit, etc.: to forfeit someone's good opinion.
6.
a favorable estimate; esteem: I haven't much of an opinion of him.

Skeen thinks very differently however. He thinks one opinion can be more valid than another simply because that person has more reasons to come to his opinion or because more people feel his way than the OTHER person's way. So if 70% of te world prefers hot dogs and 30% prefer hamburgers, the opinion that hotdogs are better are in Skeen's opinion are more valid or right.

Now what do YOU guys think? Please comment on them to keep this feud alive. (That doesn't mean you, bluegreenwolf AKA Skeen).

Different Kinds of Smart

Me and Skeen were talking on the way to the computer lab today. He's been talking about this book named Little Brother. It's about a bunch of tech nerds hacking computers an stuff. Skeen REALLY loves this book. He then stated "Like, I think I'm smart, but I am not even like a BILLIONTH as smart as these guys." Me and him argue a lot so I then said "Yeah, I know you think you're smart." Then we had a little bicker about him thinking he's smarter then me. After a bit he said something I actually had to agree with- THERE ARE DIFFERENT KINDS OF SMART! While thinking about it I agreed with it. I, for example, am well rounded in academics, computers, and video games. But I am not a person who is gifted with the art of speech like Skeen admittedly is. I can't freestyle rap, I can't write a poem off the top of my head, I can't quickly make a snappy comeback if someone insults me. I have to think before I can manage something smart. Or else I spit out dumb phrases or copy what I hear somewhere else. But in the same way if you have ever read Skeen's blog he isn't the best speller in the world, while I pretty much correctly spell anything I attempt to write. There are many other kinds of smart that I can't name off the bat, but the point is we all are smarter than someone else someway or another.

The Meaning of Life?

Ok, so me and Skeen were supposed to be working on http://www.usatestprep.com/ yesterday, but I was busy creating my blog site and Skeen was working on his(http://www.btskeen.com/ I know I forgot to give it to you yesterday). Well, whenever the teacher came by I would switch it into my usatestprep tab so he wouldn't catch me, but he just kept right on typing. The teacher caught him and told him he should do the work instead. After that Skeen got a little po'd and said some stuff I really wasn't listening. But then Skeen said "Hey Jordan, what's the purpose of things?" I replied, "What do you mean, like the meaning of life?" He said "Yeah, like what's the meaning of life?" Well, I never really got a chance to really answer him because Cory was in the discussion and somehow turned the whole subject around to blogging. But my viewepoint on the meaning of life is actually religious. The meaning of life is to serve God and to show others the narrow path to heaven. Many may try to say otherwise because they're either science teachers or just straight up heathens, but that is as my title suggests MY SIDE OF THE STORY! I believe that God put us on this earth to give us a chance to get to know Him and when we do, show others the way.

Make Aquaintance with the Fresh Person

My name is Jordan Gardner. I decided to make a blog in reference to BTSkeen's "Meet the New Guy". ME and him go to school together and have alot of... well.. INTERESTING disagreements in a heated battle of who is more right. But if we didn't argue I guess our friendship wouldn't exist because we just wouldn't have anything to do with each other without them. Anyways this blog is basically a way to post our conversations and/or arguments to let you guys decide who is right or just think about what we converse about. I'm not in any way going to be as poetic with my blogs as Skeen. I also will be straight to the point so if you are looking for a long rant filled with total BS go somewhere else. I don't want you here anyway. I basically am going to post about the B&J's(Brandan&Jordan's)  conversations or just type about some random idea I was thinking of. But I don't have to promise you anything because this is MY blog and if you don't like the way I run it, you can just bite me. Well, stay reading my fans, and if you want some fun stuff, go to my website http://www.thebossisawesome.weebly.com/ its filled with games and crap.
